Roll Through Winter
Fat Biking
Branded the bulkier cousin of summer and shoulder season mountain biking, fat biking has solidified its wide-load stance in the Rossland biking scene. True, these wide-tired behemoths can be pedalled four seasons of the year, but they really strut their stuff in the winter months. Just ask the growing number of committed devotees in their frosted goatees — thumbs up and high fives thrown out as they navigate a handful of packed and groomed
fat-bike-friendly paths. Chubby rubber tires are welcome on several Rossland trails.
Powered by single-track, machine-groomed technology and single-minded enthusiasts that can’t shelve their bikes for the winter, the volunteer corps maintain select routes, with the fat-bikes’ cult-following maturing into another niche sport embraced on the Rossland sports-scape.
Step Into Adventure

With endless options, you can wander through snow-dusted forests, crunch across ridges, and follow trails that feel straight out of a postcard. A local favourite, the 100 Acre Woods trail, descends through impressive stands of cedar and hemlock. A short loop that makes every step worth it. Whether you’re out for a quick loop or an all-day wander, snowshoeing here isn’t just about getting from A to B — it’s about soaking in the magic of a Rossland winter, one snowy step at a time.

Strawberry Pass
A network of snowy routes just off of Hwy 3 lead to a chain of cozy day-use cabins, perfect for families, friends, or anyone who loves self-guided snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or backcountry ski touring. Stop in to warm up, sip a hot drink, grab a bite, or just take in the views — each cabin has its own personality. Some are just a short stroll from the trailhead for a relaxed escape, while others sit deeper in the snow, waiting to reward explorers who crave a bigger, more adventurous day in the mountains.
Before you head into the backcountry, know before you go. Weather can change fast—pack extra layers and the right gear for all conditions. Check the forecast, bring a map (cell service is spotty to none), and make sure you’ve got the skills and equipment for the terrain you’re tackling. Preparation isn’t just smart—it’s essential for a safe adventure.
