SUMMARY:March Speaker Series with Terry LePage: The Klister Klub
DESCRIPTION:We’re sure you’ve heard about the Klister Klub! A group of skiers from the Trail Ski Club built a cabin in 1939 that would become a hub of ski touring and adventuring for decades. The cabin was built from wood logged on site — all other supplies had to be hiked up to Cabin Flats in the basin between Granite and Grey Mountains. Many of those same skiers went on to be key players in planning and building the area’s first chair lift and establishing the Red Mountain Ski Club in 1947. Prior to the construction of the Granite Chair\, the Klister Klub cabin was only accessible by hiking or ski touring\, yet it continued to be a popular place for members — especially on full moon nights. Klister Klub members continued to maintain and repair the main cabin through the 1970s and 80s\, through to present day. \nCome out to the Museum at 6 pm on Thursday\, March 26th\, to hear long-time Klister Klub member Terry LePage confirm some of the lore of this long-standing Rossland institution and the members who contributed so much to the Red Mountain ski area. \nEntry by Donation. Treats/refreshments provided. \nMore info/RSVP at rosslandmuseum.ca/news/2026/march-speaker

This year\, campers have the opportunity to engage directly with some of our favourite art-related artefacts\, most of which are not currently on display. \nMarch 16th – 20th: Junior Time Travellers – Art through Artefacts \nFor an artist\, inspiration can come from anywhere\, anytime. Each day\, campers will learn about art history through a variety of art projects and activities inspired by the museum’s artsy-est artefacts. \nMarch 23th – 27th: Junior Time Travellers – Artefacts through Art \nRossland has always been home to a vibrant and creative community\, and we have the collection items to prove it. From early mining and ski races to homemade instruments and DIY woodstoves\, our locals sure knew how to innovate. Each day\, campers will learn the history behind some of the museum’s most unique artefacts through related crafts and activities. \nCamps run 9 am-3 pm (drop-off begins at 8:45 am\, pick-up between 3-4 pm). Camps appropriate for ages 6-10. Max 16 children per week.

SUMMARY:January Speaker Series with Dan Grec: The Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina
DESCRIPTION:What a trip! Thursday\, January 29th at 6 pm\, join us at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre as Author-Adventurer Dan Grec takes us on a journey with the tale of his cross-hemisphere adventure. \nNot happy sitting at a desk\, Dan decided to quit his job\, buy a small Jeep\, and drive 64\,000 kms solo from Alaska to Argentina on the world’s longest highway\, the Pan-American.
