Each day\, campers will learn about art history through a variety of art projects and activities inspired by the museum’s artsy-est artefacts. \nMarch 23th – 27th: Junior Time Travellers – Artefacts through Art \nRossland has always been home to a vibrant and creative community\, and we have the collection items to prove it. From early mining and ski races to homemade instruments and DIY woodstoves\, our locals sure knew how to innovate. Each day\, campers will learn the history behind some of the museum’s most unique artefacts through related crafts and activities. \nCamps run 9 am-3 pm (drop-off begins at 8:45 am\, pick-up between 3-4 pm). DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Rossland Seniors Centre for an incredible art opportunity! Hailing from Vernon\, BC\, Rebecca Fux is an oil painter who has brought her talents to our programming team here at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre. Join her at the Rossland Seniors Centre on Friday\, March 13th for a guided painting workshop! The subject will be a still life composed of some of Rebecca’s favourite objects from our collection. Any and all levels of painting experience are welcome. Rebecca will be there to provide guidance and some technical skills\, but her primary goal is to encourage creative expression and fun. \nThe workshop will begin with drawing exercises to warm up\, followed by a brief presentation highlighting how different artists have been approaching still life from the 17th century to today. Last but not least\, Rebecca will guide you in painting a still life with acrylic paint on canvas. \nWhen: Friday\, March 13th\, 2026. 3:45 – 6:15 pm\, with a 15-minute break at 5 pm.\nWhere: Rossland Seniors Centre\, 1916 First Ave\, Rossland\nCost: $30 for Museum or Seniors Centre members\, $35 for non-members\nAll materials will be provided. DESCRIPTION:The Kootenay Zone U12\, U14 and U16 athletes will be coming together at RED for a weekend of racing where they will lay it all on the line in GS and SL on RED’s storied race slopes. Athletes will be traveling from across the Kootenay’s including Lake Louise\, Fernie\, Panorama\, Golden\, Kimberley\, Whitewater\, Fairmont\, Summit Lake\, Salmo and Phoenix. \nRacing begins at 9:00 am on both March 7th and 8th\, and will run right through until 2pm daily. A yearly event in which soups are generously provided by local restaurants and caterers and available at all three cabins within the Ski Club network from 12 to 2 pm. Please bring your own mug and spoon. There is no cost for a trail pass but we respectfully ask that you consider a donation since this is a fundraiser. There will be donation jars in each of the cabins and at the trailheads.
