Rossland Mountain Film Festival

Nov 19-23, 2008

"The Biggest Little Film Fest in Canada" AKA: The Rossland Mountain Film Festival is a four-day event that takes place in Canada's Alpine City - Rossland BC. The focus of the event is on local talent. Filmmakers, artists and new media workers showcase their creations to a Kootenay regional audience.

Our submissions have progressed in an interesting fashion over the past few years. Many local filmmakers who started out filming themselves and their buddies on the slopes of the local ski hill have now expanded their work and skill to include other independent films, not necessarily of the extreme sport genre. This shows the progressive talent of these composers and we here at the RMFF Society are dedicated to providing a larger platform for these artists to use in potentially launching their careers.

While we will still have several extreme sport entries this year, we will also be including a wide range of independent films - still very much reflective of the ecclectic mountain culture that is found in Rossland and other mountain communities.

Last year's Festival showed over 30 hours of film from extreme sport to documentary and was attended by approximately 1100 people. Other than films, the Festival audience was exposed to local paintings, slide shows, music, outdoor tourism companies and to the community of Rossland itself - a vibrant and active mountain town.
