Aug 1- Bike Park

I haven't blogged for a while probably because there are so many things to do in the summer.  Anyways- just bought a new bike- and am really stoked!  It is the right size and weight and a perfect fit.  It is making a huge difference too.  Went to the bike park last night and managed to go over my first see-saw.  Almost didn't make it- but managed to not bite it.  Also went over the high bridge and the big rollers (really fun!).  Chickened out on the smallest jump- but figure I can do it next time.  I am also doing the Betty Go Hard class on Tuesday nights- really fun.  Great to bike with a bunch of girls of a similar caliber- and really supportive.

May 20- Green!

I went away for the long weekend and when I returned to Rossland- everything has turned green.  It is way too gorgeous!  Bright lovely grass and trees.  Even a few flowers.  Spring is here and summer won't be far behind.  Going for a ride on Thursday with Betty Go Hard and looking forward to it.

May 2- Spring is here and my bike is out!

Had a fabulous ride yesterday with the Betty Go Hard Group -such a nice ride.  There were about 15 girls/ladies all of about the same ability level and the ride was led by Cindy Devine . I have to say I was a bit intimidated at first as everyone looked quite fit- and I had a few beer this winter.........  Anyways we had a fabulous road ride- out by the Waneta Dam.  What a gorgeous place for a ride.  Everyone was very supportive and we had a really nice time.  Saw a mommy bear and her babies- which were tiny- about as big as cats.Apparently next week (this is a part of a 4 week series) we are heading up a massive hill- I will let you know how that goes!  After the ride Tash had organised girly fruit punch with a bit of a kick as well as some fabulous appies.  I felt like I really deserved them! I would highly recommend these group rides- well organised and great fun!

April 11- Enough Snow already!

Yes- I know this may sound like blasphemy- but I have had enough snow for one season.  Great that the ski hill is open for 1 last weekend- but I am ready to get my bike out and play some golf.  The Rossland Trail Golf Course has opened already and I am keen to hit some balls.

Today is looking promising as we have sunshine and no sign of any more snow!

March 15- Big snow day

Yesterday in my wisdom (not at all) I decided my husband could ski in the morning while I watched the kids- he came back grinning from ear to ear as there was so much snow.  So then I made another bad decision- taking the 3 year old to the top of the mountain.  Well when your legs are a foot long and the powder is a foot deep- it makes it tough going.  She made it- but didn't speak to me till I got her a hot chocolate.  All is well now.

Skiing is still great.

March 3

Yes- got my sunglasses out, had a beer on the deck at Paradise, was mentally preparing my garden.... and today it is dumping again.  Fantastic as I wasn't really ready for spring anyways.

Also- managed to get my 3 year old and 4 year old to the top of Granite on Sunday and had a lovely time with them in the sun.  The 3 year old even managed to ski Rino's run in under 15 minutes (which is 1 hour and 15 minutes shorter than it took my sister-in-law who lives in Dubai!).

RosslandPride is this weekend and not only did my colleague manage to find me a fantastic Red Dress for Red Dress day at Red, but I also got a stunning one piece ski suit complete with belt and faux fur for the party at the Rams Head. Should be lots of fun.

Jan 25- Rossland Winter Carnival

Town is looking great for the big festival this weekend.  They have created a fantastic open air beer garden and ice bar downtown and opposite it is the downtown snowboard park on Queen St.  www.rosslandwintercarnival.com

The parade is tonight and apparently I am in it- but am not sure what we are dressing up as.  Stay tuned.

Should be a great weekend with the Blizzard Fest www.blizzardfest.com which should be a great concert series.

I am also off to the Rotary Wine Tasting event at RSS on Saturday- it looks like it is going to be really great with a ton of BC wineries, food, music and wine!

Jan.10- Tons of Snow

Huge amounts of snow.  I went skiing yesterday in the afternoon and there was tons of fresh everywhere- and to top it off- beautiful Kootenay sea at the top.  Beautiful day.  How many places in the world can you leave your office and get 3 runs in, and back to work in 1 hour!  Very cool.

Happy New Year!

Dec 31-

Had a fantastic evening last night!  We tried out one of Rossland's newest dining experiences.  Le Petit Fromage - It was too fun.  We rented cross country skiis from High Country Sports and then met up with Bridget at Blackjack.  Then you ski out to a cabin, which has been pre-warmed and she served us a fabulous dinner.  There were 8 of us- most of whom had never cross country skied, and we had a lovely cheese fondue, salad, and chocolate fondue for dessert.  The location was intimate and really fun.  We drank a lot of wine and then had a ski back under a really bright winter sky.  Fantastic evening. I am still recovering from the "kissing rule!'.

Holiday

Dec 27- am supposed to be on holiday- but could not resist the opportunity to play with the new web site.  Skiing has been fantastic!  Also have had the kids (3&4) in Christmas ski camp at Red Mountain - and the lessons were a tremendous success.  The four year old can now ride the lift by himself and turn both ways- and the 3 year old can turn one way (and looks for bunnies in the forest).  Not that I am bragging but my kids rock.  Great to have them in a 3 day camp together where they could really work on their skiing.

New lift is also really great for kids- so easy to load and unload as well as a bunch of fantastic terrain for beginners and intermediates.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a big powder day so I will be hitting the slopes sans enfants!

Happy holidays
